A Surrogate Parent for Children with Disabilities, that is.
Jenny Gorman Speas recently completed and passed the training to become a special education surrogate parent in the State of Ohio. In concise terms, this means Jenny can be appointed by school districts to represent and advocate for children with disabilities who are wards of the state or have parents that can’t be identified or located. Surrogates can also represent foster children whose foster parents are unable to manage the special education process.
